Velaa Private Island offers the latest in “Technogym”, a world-class Gym featuring state-of-the-art fitness equipment.

On an elevated Yoga Pavilion, with beautiful views over the golf academy, guests can receive personal yoga master sessions, either on the raised-tree meditation platform in the garden or by the beach.

Golf enthusiasts can enjoy the only “Velaa Short Game Golf Academy by Olazabal” in the Maldives. Managed by Troon, it features 170 sqm of greens and pitching zones, plus a swing studio for improving your game designed by US Master’s Champion Jose Maria Olazabal.

Sports facilities extend to a covered Tennis Court & Squash Court, Beach Volleyball and an artificial Football pitch.


Offshore
Seadoo Scooters are available for hire to effortlessly access the island’s coral reef for the best snorkeling.

Windsurfing offers seven different board size options and 10 sail configurations for all conditions and experience, from training for complete novices to the most advanced setup for experts.

Sailing features a Topcat K1 Catamaran and New Zealand-designed Weta High Performance Trimaran easily operated by one or two.

Kite Surfing is with F1 Kites - by far the best in the world - taking this action packed sport to all levels, from downwind runs to private lessons.

Kayaks are available in 3 different, fun options: single, double or family.

Stand Up Paddle Boards are increasingly popular, to explore the beautiful waters around Velaa Private Island and keep fit at the same time!

Jet Skis are Yamaha VX 1100 Cruisers, designed for both experienced riders to enjoy great on-water performance, and beginners to ride at reduced power, for safety and comfort.

Seabobs are the latest and greatest watersports trend, for cruising effortlessly on top or just under the surface like a dolphin.

Our AG21 Sports Boat is new to Yamaha’s speedboat range, designed for water sports of all types, with unique features to lower the centre of gravity and increase wake size.

For all levels, styles and ages are Water-skiing, Wakeboarding and Knee Boarding with fun inflatable activities such as Tubes, Bananas and the new Ski Seat experience.

Excursions & Diving
Our Dive Centre offers all levels of certification courses and scuba diving over breathtaking marine vistas. The truly adventurous can join an exclusive semi-submarine expedition. Fishing expeditions are into the deep, cool waters of the Noonu Atoll, home to a vast array of species. Sunset cruises, dolphin watching and private excursions are aboard either a luxury prestige yacht or traditional ‘Bahthelis’ boats.

Scuba Diving - Velaa Private Island Dive Centre is equipped with Scubapro, renowned for its outstanding quality, and is affiliated with the international leisure diving association PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors).

Snorkeling – Either direct from the beach, off the island coral reef, or with excursions to outer islands such as Orimas Varu and Gathafaru.

Night Snorkeling - Night Sea Torches enable guests to view florescent marine organisms when snorkeling after dark.

Sea Manta Encounter – Our Marine Biologist accompanies expeditions to encounter manta rays, a beautiful experience described by many as almost spiritual.

Submarine - To explore the deeper waters of the Noonu Atoll, three-person ambient pressure submarine tours are operated by a trained skipper who offers an informative narration on this exciting adventure.

Educational Presentations - Power point presentations on a variety of topics are screened once or twice weekly, set up on the beach with beanbag chairs, nibbles and champagne or fruit cocktails (weather permitting). This is also an additional option for a rainy day activity, taking place indoors.

Dolphin Cruise – On one evening a week, we organise magical encounters with dolphins, including informative insights into their behaviour and the different species native to the Maldives.

Meet Our Sea Turtles - Daily sea turtle hatchery feeding is accompanied by a “turtle talk” about our private island hatchery, sea turtles in general and environmental concerns. Night Walks are organised to observe nest laying and hatching when it occurs – including late night beach picnic in the vicinity of nests.
