Eating under the sky and stars is a must. Thus Vivanta by Taj presents Open - The Grill, an al fresco dining experience overlooking the lagoon & the swimming pool. Guests are treated to a stylish interactive experience at the Teppanyaki Grill where the meal is accompanied by selections of flavoured organic sea salts and different olive oils. The grills use lava stone and traditional Indian tandoori char grills for ultra authentic results. Meanwhile, the Sushi chef demonstrates his skills at the sushi bar. And to add to the contrast, there's a poolside, wood-fired pizza oven that ensures delicious, classic pizza is available all day long.

EXECUTIVE CHEF RICHARD THOMPSON
Richard brings with him over 39 years of diverse culinary experience as well as extensive knowledge in service standards, food and wine pairings. Prior to moving to the Maldives, he was Executive Chef at Army and Navy Club Washington DC, USA a position he assumed in 2007. Previously, he spent nearly two years at Parrot Cay Resort & Como Shambhalha Retreat Turks & Caicos Islands.

With a focus on global fare, Richard Thompson brings the best of international inspired cuisine to the table that offers a great selection utilising the Char-grill as its focus in cookery featuring Asian, South American and Caribbean styles, yet keeping the food light and consistent with the Tropical location.
